• See People! This is (one) reason why I retired!

Two more authors have been added to the witch-hunt. Although I’d feel sorry for Thélyson Orélien if he hadn’t admitted to plagiarizing. So he and Simbarashe Kundizeza join the list of authors who have been accused of using AI to write their books. And yes, they are both people of color. And let’s add Jamir…

  • Time to Call it a Career

If you keep up with my social media accounts, you know that my brother Lance, whom I always referred to as Big Brother, passed away on July 29th. My nephew and I went to ID him yesterday. It brought everything back. Not that it left. Soon, we will have a memorial. Big Brother wanted to…

  • Tomi Adeyemi, again.

Mini-Musing 07/07/26 Toni Adeyemi – again. I don’t know if I’ll catch trouble for this but, I was researching – what I can’t recall – when this story popped up in one of my feeds. Upon seeing it, I unfortunately let myself go down the rabbit hole. Although it wasn’t as deep as I thought.…

  • Mary Robinette Kowal

Her Favorite Bit: Steelbound I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the email from my publisher. Mary Robinette Kowal was interested in featuring Steelbound in her My Favorite Bit. Wow…I didn’t even know she was aware of my existence on the planet! I haven’t been this excited since meeting Nora Roberts! I’m sure…

  • Tinderbox and Beyond: A Writer’s Story

It all began in 2020 — I recall — that was ages ago. And yes, I am using em-dashes. I’ve used em-dashes before there was AI, and internet and even computers. Yes, I’m old. After my writing defeat, I figured I would never get published again. It seemed that way for a long time until…

  • The Pirates of Darkwater ~ 1991-1992

“If you grew up in the early ’90s, you might remember The Pirates of Darkwater — a show that was weird, wonderful, and way ahead of its time. It left a mark on me in the best way.”

  • I met Patton Oswalt!

“I never expected to meet Patton Oswalt, let alone have such a genuine, funny moment with him. It was the kind of encounter that brightens your whole week.”

  • Mini Musing 10/16/25: What Am I Missing?

“Every so often, I hit a moment where something feels just out of reach. This little musing is me trying to figure out what that missing piece might be.”

  • Rapture 2025 #rapturetok and IMHO

Let’s start with this: Matthew 24:36 reads, “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only“. In this verse, Jesus states that only the Father in heaven knows the exact day and hour of his return. This concept emphasizes the importance for believers…

  • Moving Forward: Finding New Literary Representation

After five years together, I’ve parted ways with my literary agent, Anne Tibbets of the Donald Maass Agency. This was a mutual and amicable decision, made with respect and appreciation. We’re simply heading in different creative directions. I’m deeply grateful to Anne for her support and the opportunity she gave me—especially helping bring Tales from…
